Fiber Probe for Simultaneous Mid-Infrared and Fluorescence Spectroscopic Analysis

Posted on:
17 June 2024

We are excited to share one of our latest articles, showcasing the groundbreaking capabilities of our multispectral Combi Probe! This innovative fiber optic design enables simultaneous analysis using both mid-infrared (Mid-IR) and fluorescence spectroscopy, offering unparalleled efficiency in spectroscopic analysis.

What is the Combi Probe?

The Combi Probe is a versatile tool designed for the simultaneous measurement of Mid-IR and fluorescence spectra. This dual-functionality probe combines the strengths of both techniques, providing comprehensive chemical information from a single measurement point.

Why Use Two Spectroscopic Methods?

Utilizing both Mid-IR and fluorescence spectroscopy allows for a more detailed and reliable analysis:

  • Mid-IR Spectroscopy: Offers precise chemical composition analysis at a molecular level, ideal for identifying various chemical bonds and functional groups.
  • Fluorescence Spectroscopy: Excels in detecting specific biomolecules and structural changes within tissues, making it indispensable for applications in biomedical diagnostics.

Real-World Applications

Our recent tests on biological tissues have demonstrated the probe's capability to differentiate between various tissue types with high precision, especially when one modality alone could not achieve this. This advancement is particularly promising for tumor diagnostics, where accurate detection of tumor margins is crucial.
